Manchester United are now without any member of their last Premier League-winning season after David De Gea officially left the club yesterday.
De Gea helped the club win the 2012/13 Premier League title in his first and legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season.
United have not won the title again since then, coming second twice, both to rivals Manchester City, under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Their best season since the Scottish departure was under Mourinho when they won the UEFA Europa League and the Carabao Cup in the Special One’s first season.
End of era at United
De Gea and striker Robin van Persie were the major additions to help the squad, with the Dutch forward featuring in 38 games and securing the Golden Boot.
The Spanish goalkeeper and defender Phil Jones were the last two to survive 10 seasons later. Mirror UK reports that Jones’s departure was confirmed in May, a year after his last appearance due to injury.
The former Atletico Madrid goalie is officially without a club, signalling the end of all the members of United’s last title-winning squad.
Some prominent stars in the squad are retired and now into punditry, including Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes and part-time appearances from Patrice Evra and van Persie.
Sun Sport reports that it may not be over between the two parties as the club have asked the keeper not to join any club yet in case they are unable to succeed in their pursuit of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Sports Brief reported that United fans asked the club to sign Onana as De Gea’s replacement after videos of the Cameroonian’s ball-playing ability went viral.
